There are major two types of SmCo magnets available, 1:5 type (SmCo5) and 2:17 type (Sm2Co17). SmCo magnets have very high magnetic properties and temperature properties. Their Curie temperature can be as high as 710 to 880 oC. Maximum working temperature can be 250 to 350 oC. So this kind of magnets have the best magnetic stability. They are very good magnetic material for motors and other application with very strict working environment requirement.
SmCo magnets have very good corrosion resistance capability, so no coating is needed for surface protection.
Since the capacity on earth of the major raw material Sm is low, so the price for SmCo magnets are very high. |
